Penny Black Wish You Were Near

I decided to make a second card for my Rolodex Art File using the Penny Black stamped image we used in the Copic shading class I went to with my friend Dagmar earlier this month.

I have no supply list because I was in a class and the papers are from the class too.  I think the name of this Slapstick cling stamp is "Wish You Were Near".

Here's a look at my file before I started filling it.

Clear Dollar Stamps Fall Birthday Critters

I have a fun birthday card to share with you today!  This is a pre-colored digital image from Clear Dollar Stamps and it comes with digital papers too.

I found a sketch layout I wanted to try in my files, took a few measurements and printed the cute owl, sentiment and paper and went to work.  I love using the pre-colored digital images from Clear Dollar Stamps, I "need" birthday cards and they help fill that need so nicely!

I have a supply list for you today:

Stamps/Images:  Clear Dollar Stamps Birthday Fall Critters
Cardstock/papers:  Color Mates Deep Orange, Via Vellum Leaf Green, Astrobrights Solar Yellow, Mohawk Bright White, Digital paper that comes in this set
Inks/Markers:  HP OfficeJet 6000
Accents/Tools:  Spellbinders circle dies, We R Memory Keepers 1/8th “ Corner Chomper, Stampin’ Up! Mat Stack & paper piercing tool

It's time for me to say a fond farewell to Clear Dollar Stamps, in just a couple of days my design team term ends.  I have one more Clear Dollar Stamps project to share November 6th for their Year Round Calendar blog hop and I hope you'll come back for that.  Thanks Lori for having me on your team, it's been a great year!  If any of my blog readers ever have the opportunity to be on the CDS design team I'd give them a 5 star rating for being a wonderful team to be a part of.

Have a nice weekend and thanks for visiting my blog today -

Doodle Pantry Quirky Skunk

I bet you were expecting to see a card using Doodle Pantry's Quirky Skunk digital stamp set!  I need to buy some ink for my OfficeJet printer and just haven't done it so I was rummaging through my scrap pile and this card formed in my mind.

I used Doodle Pantry's Quirky Skunk designer paper that comes in the digital stamp set and Doodle Pantry's Merciful & Good digital stamp set for my card.  Kind of a weird combination but it works for me.  It was fun to take a limited amount of supplies and see what I could put together.  You may recognize the sketch, it's Splitcoast Stampers Sk#343.

The digital papers have an off white background so I used a sheet of Cream Linen cardstock I've had for a long time and the polka dots matched Stampin' Up! Taken With Teal, all waiting in the pile of scraps beside my cutter.

Bug A Boo Stamps Itchy

I had a little time to look through some of my already colored stamps and digital images and came across several from Bug A Boo Stamps, how fun!  I had such a good time when I was on their design team (:  I decided to use Itchy for our Polka Dots Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps that starts today.

My colors are limited because I colored this cute image while I was at one of our church craft therapy meetings.  That's what my friend calls our every other Friday craft night we meet for at our local church.

My layout is Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Sunday sketch challenge #92 pictured below.

As you can see I flipped the sketch to accommodate the way Itchy was sitting, if I hadn't colored him yet I would have "flipped" him in my Publisher program before printing.

For papers I used Neenah Solar White & Red Pepper Linen, Via Vellum Leaf Green & Black.  The ribbon is by May Arts, I have Apple Green May Arts dotted organdy ribbon and it was too light so I used my Copic YG17 marker on it to color both sides so it would match better.  I also used a strip of white cardstock under the ribbon to help it pop just a little more.  I got out my old favorite Hearts & Scalloped Hearts Spellbinders dies and the "miss you" sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink stamp set.

I hope you'll join us for our Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps this week.

Stampendous Jumbo Pine

I have a fun card/project to share with you today!
I haven't had a lot of time to play with my new Rolodex V546 as I'd like but I do have a new project to show you.

I used the Stampendous Jumbo Pine cling stamp to make a card for my Rolodex art file.  I colored the pine tree with Copic markers and put the "recipe" on the back of the card.  I did forget to take a picture of it so here's the list:

G29, G28, G24, G82, G20, R59, R46, R32

Here's a picture of my progress so far...

Beccy's Place Chocolate Strawberries

I'm so happy with the way this card turned out!  I've had the image from Beccy's Place colored for quite some time but haven't had a suitable sketch/layout.  Until last Wednesday...  I thought Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge #355 was perfect for this.

The cardstock colors I used are Neenah Red Pepper Linen, Stampin' Up! Garden Green, Thepapermill.com Nut Brown, Mohawk Bright White & Copic Xpress It.  I wasn't sure what paper I'd used to color on until I took photos and had the card on my computer screen, that's when I can always tell.

I colored the Chocolate Strawberies with Copic markers:
E57, E35, E33, R59, R46, R35, Wo, B63, B60, YG01, YG03, YG63, YG67

The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink set Signature Greetings, cut out with Spellbinders Ovals and I added three enhanced Dew Drops (E57) for balance.  I forgot to mention when I listed the papers that the striped strip of paper is digital paper that was in my scrap pile so I'm not sure who it's made by.

Today's card is in memory of my Mom, she's been gone eleven years now & today is her birthday and her favorite color was red.  She would have been 86 years old, I never got to share my card making with her.  She did teach me to sew when I was a little girl though, we spent hours and hours together lost in fabric and patterns - good memories  (:

Doodle Pantry Harvest Bounty

I have a Doodle Pantry card to share with you today.
I was looking through my digital file folders and thought this Harvest Bounty image would be perfect to color and it fits with our time of year beautifully.

I colored this digital image with Copic markers & it always surprises me how many are out on the table when I'm done :)

B0000, YG11, YR24, YR23, YR21, E51, E53, E43, E99, E29, E18, E25, E41, R59, R46, R35, R32, YG67, YG03, YG01, Y04, YR02, YR04, YR07, YR09, C00, C0, C1, G24, G21, Y28, Y21

My card is 5 1/2" square and the layout is very simple.  I used an old patterned paper from American Traditional Designs called Bohemian Chic.  The digital image is printed on Neenah Solar White and the brown is Astrobrights Jupitar Java.  I did my signature sentiment in the Spellbinders Tags Trio die with a button and a scrap of bakers twine.

I hope you'll stop by Doodle Pantry and check out all the new release digital images for this month too!

Rolodex V546

Look what I found on E Bay!!!

I can almost imagine what you're thinking.  You're thinking I've lost my mind what the heck is that ugly old thing?

You're looking at a Rolodex V File Model #546.
I'd love to know what year it was made...  Any ideas?

One more photo of it right out of the box.

Recently I was browsing on Pinterest and came across an art journal that totally inspired me.  Patty Van Dorin calls hers a "Scrapodex", you can see it on her blog.  She uses a smaller version of the Rolodex made to hold 2" X 4" address or business cards and makes paper collages to go in hers, it's really neat.

From Patty's inspiration I went looking for a Rolodex file to play with and found several on E Bay.  The one I ended up buying is a Zephyr American Rolodex V546 which holds 4"x6" index cards - perfect for those mini art journal projects!  After winning the auction and looking around a bit more I found there appear to be three sizes, 2"X4", 3"X5" & 4"X6".  I haven't found any actual 4"X6" Rolodex cards to put in mine but that's ok I can make my own as you'll see below.

Every once in awhile I make a project I'd really like to keep so I thought this Rolodex would be a perfect place to keep those and enjoy them.  I'm very happy I found one of these that was made to hold bigger index cards!

I've just barely gotten started on this project and will be adding to it as often as I can & I'll share it with you as I go along.

Patty has the Scrapodex for her creations now I need to come up with a name for mine.  What do you think?  Is it an "Artodex" a "Cardodex", "Craftodex"?
Your comments with ideas for a name would be fun and very much appreciated!

Doodle Pantry Scarecrow Birdie

I think I'm getting caught up after my weekend away now!
My card today is made with a fun Doodle Pantry digital stamp set called Scarecrow Birdie.  If you visited my blog yesterday my clean and simple card layout may look familiar.  I used Operation Write Home's sketch #90 because I think it might be one of those that I "need" to see how it looks with different images (:

This was such a quick little card to put together using the sketch and Doodle Pantry's already colored digital image and paper.  I re-sized the digital paper that comes in this set to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4", pasted the Scarecrow just above the paper & added the "autumn blessings" sentiment so I could cut it as a strip and printed.  Gave the printer ink a few minutes to dry so I wouldn't smear it and cut and assembled my card following the sketch layout.  I added the red and green buttons to repeat the look of the scarecrow button eyes using Cheery Lynn Button #3 die and I have a nice card for my Operation Write Home box.

Swimming For Katie Fund Raiser

From October 10-12, stampers are joining together to support and encourage our friend and fellow stamper, Katie Renz, who is currently battling inoperable gastric cancer.  If you're not familiar with her, Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year.  This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight. Her first post about it is here.  The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.

Information central is HERE.
To go on the 3 days of blog hopping & see all the wonderful stamps and images for Katie you can start on the i heart papers blog.

Here are all of the items for sale - 100% of the profits go to help Katie and her family.

I made a card for Katie using Trudy's new digital stamp set, you can find it at i heart to stamp.

Please keep Katie in your prayers, she's back in the hospital as of yesterday.  Her husband posted an update for us here

Copic Shading Class

It was fun to go out of town for a three day crafty weekend to Phoenix but it's really good to be home again!

My crafty girl friend Dagmar and I went to Phoenix this last weekend for a Copic advanced shading class taught by Jennie Black at one of their local scrapbook stores.  We decided to make it a three day weekend so we could relax and do some shopping too.  Above is the card that we made for the shading class.

Saturday we also met up with my online friend Cathy who lives in Phoenix & got acquainted in person at the scrapbook store.  We'd met on a blog hop and corresponded through e mails and blog comments, it was really fun to meet Cathy and spend the day crafting with her.

This was an all day Copic event so there were also make 'n takes that we did.  The above card is from the first one, she was showing us how to make a quick Copic card.  We missed out on one really cute one for lack of materials that we were really disappointed about.

I learned more about air brushing while we were there so hopefully I can apply that to my crafting more and more.  The above card is also from a make 'n take by Kelly.  I'd met Kelly at the Copic certification class two years earlier so it was a fun surprise to see her again and get to visit as well as see how she's been using her Copic skills teaching and doing stuff with her local stamping and scrapbook stores.  Very fun and my favorite make 'n take of the day!

I also did a little shopping at the scrapbook store and can't wait to play with these new stamps.

lol, do you recognize this?  I think the highlight of our shopping part of the trip was our visit to Kelly Paper.  You're looking at eight reams of different colored cardstocks.  Now... where to put it all...

So if it's a few days before I get to do a blog post don't worry I'm just trying to catch up on stuff, I'll get back in the swing of things as quick as I can :)

Penny Black Listening To Stars

Hi crafty friends!

I have a fun card to share with you today using a Penny Black stamp that I acquired and haven't had time to use yet.

I colored the hedgies with Copic markers E50, E30, E31, E17, E25, RV10, G29, G24, R59, R46, R35, R32, Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11, B21, Goooo, B23.  This is a large wood mounted stamp and I wanted to make a scene so I kept my layout simple.  The sentiment stamp is from a Papertrey Ink stamp set called Holiday Wishes.  I did use Stickles Ice on my star, after it dried I went back over it with 3D Crystal Lacquer to seal and smooth the Stickles.

Doodle Pantry Candy Cane Ants

Happy Saturday, I'm in Phoenix right now with one of my crafty friends at an all day Copic event!  Blogger has been good enough to "work" for me while I'm away.  My sweet husband is taking care of everything at home so we can have a crafty get away.

My card today uses an October new release digital stamp set by Doodle Pantry.  I chose to use the colored image and one of the patterned papers that come in this cute set.

The sketch layout is from a previous Operation Write Home sketch challenge and I cut out the Candy Cane Ants with a Cheery Lynn Designs French Flair die and coordinating scalloped die.  The sentiment comes in this set and is printed on the aqua cardstock.  I added 5 red brads and my card is complete.

Digital Delights Rodney Reindeer

I have a fun card to share with you today!  I was asked to be a guest designer this week at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  They provided me with a digital image of my choice. There are so many cute images to choose from, Rodney Reindeer captured my heart.

This is an already colored digital image, I framed it with Spellbinders circles & scalloped circles dies and also a Tags Trio die.  Cardstock colors are Stampin' Up! Close To Cocoa, Neenah Red Linen, Mohawk Bright White & Gina K All Spruced Up.  The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Signature Christmas acrylic stamp set.

My card also works for our Midweek Throwdown challenge theme at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps this week, it's Christmas.

Robyn's Fetish Basket of Apples

My card today is the sample card for our Autumn/Fall challenge at Stamps R Us sponsored by Robyn's Fetish.  I used "Basket of Apples" by Robyn's Fetish and had lots of fun coloring it with Copic markers R59, R46, R35, E99, E29, E25, E53, YG67, YG63, YG03, B63, B60, B0000.

I used Doodle Pantry Rounded Wishes digital stamp set for the frame around the basket of apples.

I also used one of my favorite Cheery Lynn Designs die sets for the shape of the card, it's called French Flair.  For a little added something I went and looked up apple blossoms on the internet to see what they looked like and thought I could add a few of those using an old EK Success flower punch.  The red hearts you see are from a Die-namics heart border die and I placed them over the dots that separate "Have a delightful day" in the sentiment.

I hope you'll join in our Autumn/Fall challenge at Stamps R Us, the challenge is open until October 16, 2011.  Robin's Fetish is our sponsor with a very generous prize package!
